Tips for a 12-minute paper presentation?

My paper got accepted (first time!). I have 12 minutes plus shared discussion time. How many slides is reasonable, and what do people usually cut?
Congrats! Aim for 8-10 slides. Cut most of the literature review — one slide of framing is plenty — and spend the time on findings.
Practice with a timer at least three times. Chairs in these sessions really do cut you off at 12 minutes.
